Racial Reconciliation within the Church
On Daily Faith, we have a tremendous show today about understanding the racial divide and the need for reconciliation within the church in America, Jesus’s way. Joining us to share his story of pastoring the ups and down’s of a multiethnic and multicultural church is Pastor Ray Washington. He is the lead pastor of East Lake Community Church in Irmo, South Carolina. Pastor Ray has been ministering for over twenty years, but it wasn’t until 2018 that the Lord called his family to move to South Carolina to help the church grow in grace and unity. As the volunteer elder for the church, he later became the first nominated black candidate for the pastoral position at East Lake Community. The Scriptures says in Mark 3:25, “And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” Pastor Ray would like to share relevant and insightful steps on how to walk and grow in grace in a racially divided country. As men and women of God, we are called to be the body of Christ, where every part is necessary and valuable in God’s Kingdom. It’s time to stand up for what we believe and not give in to the powers of darkness. In His kingdom, He is preparing a table in the presence of the enemy that will host every tribe and every nation for His purpose. Mission work weighs heavy on our hearts. For over thirty years, the nature of our mission work has been in Eastern Europe, the country of Moldova. Moldova is one of the poorest countries in the world. They have the highest rate of alcoholism and death rate due to alcoholism. Many children in this impoverished country are sent to grow up in an orphanage where they are told that they will never be anything in life and grow up with feelings of insecurity. When they become of age, they are sent back out into the streets, leaving them subject to the risks of human trafficking. The Orphans Hands ministry has stepped in to help rescue these children from the dangers of human trafficking. We have a village of homes in Moldova called Vatra Village, where they have a warm and safe place to grow up in, discovering the love of Jesus in unity. Upon coming into our homes, they are now sons and daughters of Christ, who turned into missionaries to the kids they once were. God has given them the grace to forgive the ones who hurt them and brought reconciliation to their lives, walking in the fullness of His joy. We are about to welcome twenty more children into our homes, and it’s because of your generous support and prayers through the love of Jesus. Thank you!
